The Children’s Aquarium is located off of I-30 in Fair Park at 1462 First Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75210. Off of I-30 take Exit 47 Second Avenue/Fair Park and enter in through Gate 6 off Robert B. VOLUNTEERS

Take the plunge and volunteer at the newly remodeled Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park! Get your feet wet in the new Stingray Bay or Coastal Touch Tank. Help educate guests about aquatic life and become an ambassador for conservation.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

The Children’s Aquarium birthday party package includes:

  • Aquarium admission for up to 25 people (includes adults, children, toddlers, and seniors).
  • Exclusive use of the party room for 90 minutes.
  • Party Host or Hostess.
  • Animal Encounter with trained interpreter.
  • Marine Biofacts Encounter with trained aquarium interpreter.
  • Complimentary Stingray Feeding and Encounter for all of your party guests.
  • Tableware supplies and decorations.
  • Electronic invitations.
  • Package price is $350.

 

Parties are offered on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. or 3 p.m.

 

Party parents are welcome to bring a personalized cake, ice cream, beverages, food, treats, goodies, and/or party favors (no live animals, please). A refrigerator and freezer are available for use. Food is only allowed in the party room and is not permitted in the Aquarium or near touch tanks. Additional decorations are also permitted in the party room (please – for the safety of the animals, no balloons or straws are permitted).

 

Parking is not included. On most weekend days, there is no charge for parking at Fair Park. However, if an event is scheduled (such as the State Fair of Texas or a football game), parking charges will apply. For more information on events, please visit the Fair Park website: www.FairPark.org.

 

A $50 non-refundable deposit is needed to hold a party date.

CHILDREN’S AQUARIUM AT FAIR PARK FIELD TRIP ADMISSION

 

Plan your field trip to the Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park today! Explore aquatic life from all over the world as you travel through different aquatic habitats, without leaving Dallas. Touch a live stingray at the popular Stingray Bay, or stop by the tidal touch pool and meet some tide pool animals up close!

 

Reservations cannot be made during the dates of the State Fair of Texas.

 

Field Trip Reservation FAQs

 

Aquarium Self-Guided Field Trip; Grades All levels

 

Cost: $4/student, $4/adult, 1 free adult per 10 students, $4/additional adult. Parking at Fair Park is managed by the City of Dallas. Parking is usually free unless there is a paid event at Fair Park. The Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park has no control over parking fees in the event that the City of Dallas charges for parking at Fair Park.

 

There are no lunch facilities at the Aquarium. Groups need to bring lunch and picnic in any of the open green spaces around Fair Park or make arrangements to have lunch outside of Fair Park.

Sea Squirts: Tidepool

Grades: PreK – K

Length: 45 minutes

 

Discover life in a tide pool! Feel like you are taking a journey to a tide pool as you participate in this interactive program including live animals. This Preschool through Kindergarten program introduces students to reading and animal natural history. Programs are aligned to Texas Preschool Guidelines and Kindergarten TEKS.

 

Cost: $80/program  – Maximum of 20 students. 

 

Aquatic Adaptations

Grades: 1st – 5th

Length: 45 minutes

 

Gills, fins, scales and tails…how are aquatic animals able to survive under water? They adapt! Learn about these special aquatic adaptations in this interactive program that includes live education animals.

 

Cost: $80/program – Maximum of 20 students.

 

Mollusc Lab

Grades: 3rd – 8th

Length:60 minutes

 

Mollusc mania awaits in this hands-on, lab based program! Explore the diversity of the phylum Mollusca which contains over 85,000 species. This interactive program includes a squid dissection!

 

Cost: $100/program – Maximum of 20 students.

GUIDED TOUR PROGRAM

 

Aquatic Habitats

Grades: 1st – 8th

Length: 45 minutes

 

Salt water, fresh water, intertidal and more! In this instructor led program, students visit interactive stations throughout the Aquarium to learn more about the aquatic habitats and unique animals that inhabit each area. As students explore the aquatic habitats they will learn the importance of water quality and the conservation of water.

 

Cost: $100/program- Maximum 20 students.

General Scheduling Information

 

What groups are eligible for the education admission rate?

 

Eligible groups include: preschools, state licensed daycares, public or private schools, homeschool groups, scouts, shelters, City of Dallas recreation centers, YMCA/YWCA, Boys/Girls Clubs, and organized college classes (where a teacher is bringing the students for a class project).

 

What groups are NOT eligible for the education admission rate?

 

Ineligible non-education groups include churches, corporations, senior citizens, Mother’s Day out, family groups, birthdays, travel companies, non City of Dallas recreation centers, non-profits, college trips (not led by teacher), etc.

 

Make a Reservation

 

Reservation forms must be received at least two (2) weeks in advance. Reservations cannot be accepted during the State Fair of Texas or on special event days (including Homeschool Day). The Aquarium is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Please note that April and May are high volume school group months, especially during state testing. Please plan travel and entrance times accordingly.

 

Our instructor-led classroom programs and guided tours can be scheduled Monday-Friday between 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM.

 

Payment

 

Admission: Payment for admission is due upon arrival. DO NOT SEND PAYMENT FOR ADMISSION AHEAD OF TIME. Credit cards, cash, or institutional checks are accepted at the ticket gate. We do not accept POs. Final head counts for admission will be made at the ticket gate on the day of your field trip. Admission will be charged for the number of students and adults present with you at that time. Instructor-led programs must be paid in full and at least one (1) week in advance.

 

Classroom Programs and Guided Tours: Full payment and all changes for instructor-led programs are due at least one (1) week prior to the scheduled date. Programs not paid by the deadline will be cancelled. An invoice will be emailed to confirm your program and will include payment details. DO NOT INCLUDE THE COST OF ADMISSION WITH YOUR PROGRAM PAYMENT. Admission must be paid separately at the ticket gate on the day of your visit.

 

Cancellation/Reschedule Policy

 

The Dallas Zoo & Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park are open rain or shine. Your reservation may be rescheduled once without penalty. Additional reschedules will be charged $25 per instance. Field trips and programs will be cancelled if DISD is closed due to severe weather. Rescheduling fees due to DISD closure will be waived. Reschedule dates should be at least two (2) weeks in advance. We will do our best to accommodate late arrivals, but we reserve the right to cancel or adjust programs as needed. All changes and requests must be submitted in writing to Education@DallasZoo.com. Refunds will not be issued for any amount under $20, for program changes/cancellations made within one (1) week of the scheduled date, or for no-show groups.

 

Dallas ISD Learning Partners Funding – Your Learning Partners voucher is NOT a field trip reservation. Your voucher number and approval amount must be included on the reservation form. Your school (and/or Big Thought/Learning Partners if using AP funding) will be invoiced for the total reservation cost if you fail to show for your field trip/program or cancel within one (1) week of the scheduled date.

 

Code of Conduct

 

Teachers and chaperones will be held responsible for student conduct. Any behavior that endangers the safety of our animals, staff or other visitors will result in your group being expelled from our facility.

 

  • DO have students wear nametags that include their name, school, and teacher’s name (no safety pins)
  • DO stay with their assigned chaperones at all times.
  • DO understand that animals, like us, need rest and privacy. If an animal is not visible, check back later.
  • DO pick up your trash. Please dispose of garbage in trash or recycling bins.
  • DO stay on pathways.
  • DO walk, not run.
  • DO use quiet voices.
  • Do be patient and look all around the exhibit. Animals are adapted to blend in with their surroundings. They may be resting nearby.
  • DON’T feed animals. They are on a carefully balanced diet.
  • DON’T climb on rocks, walls, or fences.
  • DON’T deface Zoo or Aquarium property.
  • DON’T pick plants or flowers.
  • DON’T tap on exhibit glass, scream, spit and/or throw objects of any kind into exhibits. This behavior is disrespectful and will not be tolerated.

SENSORY FRIENDLY DAY AT THE AQUARIUM

The Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park welcomes individuals with autism, their families, and others who may benefit from a sensory-friendly experience on Sunday, February 24th. Modifications around the aquarium will include sound adjustments and quiet zones to create an enjoyable environment for the whole family. In addition families will be provided with social stories and parent tips prior to the event. Special activities to be announced!

Cancellation & Refund Policy:

 

Please Note: Registrations must be completed as a single transaction to receive 5% multiple camp discount.

 

All camp sales are final. No refunds will be given for cancelled camp reservations or camp withdrawals. A program credit may be issued based on circumstance. The credit may be used for any education program or camp at the Dallas Zoo. Credit will not be issued for cancellations made within 48 hours of your scheduled enrollment or for no-show participants. All programs will take place rain or shine. The Dallas Zoo and Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park reserves the right to cancel or change any program for reasons we deem appropriate. In the event that we cancel your program, a full refund will be issued and individuals will be contacted directly.

 

Toilet Training

 

All camp participants must be completely toilet trained (requiring no assistance in the bathroom). Our definition of toilet trained means that the child is not wearing pull-ups and is able to manage his/her own clothing by him/herself.

 

Waitlist

 

All requests to be placed on a waitlist must be submitted in writing to Education@DallasZoo.com. Phone or in-person requests cannot be accepted. Please include first and last name of adult contact, phone, and email. For each child, please include first and last name, grade level and camp title/date. You will be contacted directly in the event a space becomes available. Incomplete waitlist requests will not be considered.

 

The Dallas Zoo and Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park are licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Night Programs

Ocean Connections – Group Overnight

 

Did you know that sea stars eat with their stomachs inside-out or that sharks grow new teeth their whole lives? Explore our connection to our oceans through up-close animal encounters, hands-on STEM activities, and a special keeper animal feeding. Then, sleep among thousands of fish in the galleries of the Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park. Ages 6 & up. Activities are targeted for groups with youth between 6 and 15. We require one (1) adult chaperone per five (5) children registered. Click on the date below to register today!

 

General Scheduling Information 
Reservations must be made at least two (2) weeks in advance. Overnights are not exclusive to your group and we may book multiple groups in one night (maximum of 50 participants per night). We require all participants to be preregistered. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee that subsequent requests for additional guests to your group can be accommodated. For large groups, we will accept a minimum deposit for 15 participants although we do ask you provide an accurate estimate of your total headcount at registration.

 

Accommodations: Sleeping spaces will be assigned based on several factors, including availability, group size, and staffing, and are not exclusive to your group. Groups should be prepared to share sleeping spaces. Groups of more than 25 participants may be split into separate sleeping spaces. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee separate sleeping spaces for groups with co-ed chaperones and youth participants.

 

Chaperone Guidelines: Chaperones must accompany participants throughout the overnight experience, including all walks, tours, and activities. Please ensure that there is a sufficient number of chaperones to supervise your group at all times.

Refillable water bottle are encouraged (please no glass bottles).We do not allow outside food or beverages (except water) on our programs.Please be sure to wear comfortable closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.Electronic equipment, aside from cameras, is not allowed, and while we do allow adults to carry cell phones we ask that you refrain from using them unless it is an emergency. Smoking and alcohol consumption are not allowed during our programs. We reserve the right to search any coolers you bring into the Zoo and Children’s Aquarium, and if you are found with alcohol, you may be asked to leave the program with your group, and your overnight will NOT be refunded. Please do not bring pets or other animals with you on your program – we have plenty for you to see!

An unforgettable experience for the whole family! Registered participants have the opportunity to sleep with thousands of fish in the galleries of the Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park. Families with children ages 5 and up can take a special educator guided tour in the evening, participate in instructor led STEM activities and crafts, and enjoy a delicious night-time snack. A continental breakfast is served before participants get a special up-close animal encounter.
